Goofs: Anachronisms: The film is set in 1993, yet all of the character's clothes (those in 1993), hair and makeup are highly anachronistic. They all wear styles that became popular around 2003 and remained popular until the time of filming.

Story: Building on the terror of The Haunting in Connecticut, this tale traces a young family's nightmarish descent into a centuries-old Southern hell. When Andy Wyrick moves his wife Lisa and daughter Heidi to a historic home in Georgia, they quickly discover they are not the house's only inhabitants. Joined by Lisa's free-spirited sister, Joyce, the family soon comes face-to-face with a mystery born of a deranged desire ... a haunting secret rising from underground and threatening to bring down anyone in its path. Synopsis: In 1988, the Wyrick family moves into a new home, which was mysteriously abandoned by the previous owners. Shortly afterward, their four-year-old daughter Heidi begins spending time with an imaginary friend, a kindly old man named Mr. Gordy. Several months later, Heidi is frightened by the appearance of a man at the front door. The man, whose hand is wrapped in bandages and shirt covered in blood, introduces himself as "Khan", but upon investigation, Heidi's mother is unable to find Khan, and dismisses him as a figment of Heidi's imagination. However, shortly after this event, Heidi begins to see images of "the Dark Figure", a man whose face is obscured by a hood. The family eventually realizes there's more to the Dark Figure than just a child's active imagination, after Heidi awakens one night with claw marks on her face; shortly after this incident, her father Andy suffers the same scratches on his side. This is loosely based on real events, which doesn't help explain thecompletely absurd title. Research into the Wyrick hauntings won't ruinthe film for you however as the only comparison to recorded events arethe names of the characters.
As with any horror movie these days there are plenty of stock thrills:ghosts in white dresses, waking from a dream to find you are still in adream, swings that move by themselves etc. The best thing about thisfilm is that the characters are quite likable and you do becomeinvested in their welfare. There's enough twists and turns to keep youguessing at the real nature of the evil. The breakout star is EmilyAlyn Lind, who is so adorable that you want to reach into the movie andrescue her yourself, her plight not helped by her somewhat inconscientfather who encourages her friendship with an old dead guy if it meansdirections to hidden treasure. His commitment to his daughter is onlyoutweighed by his commitment to their hapless rescue dog.
The two female leads are nicely balanced. All the women in this 'seedead people', and it's how they handle it that is the crux of the film,their conflicting reactions and opinions driving the plot forward asthe truth is revealed. This is obviously low budget, shots of theforest using various filters providing the atmosphere, the gore isminimal and the special effects fairly low key, but enough here to giveyou a tingle, even if it's only the fact that Mr Gordy really didappear to Heidi and he gets his photo in the end credits.

I didn't want to see this. I didn't care about it. My daughter wantedto see it and was afraid she would become scared so I Streaminged it withher. I cannot believe how wrong I was. This movie was excellent. Thepremise is NOT silly, or stupid, and it is not scary or gory. What itis, is quite frightening and the story line is believable and this maybe the one "Based on a true story" horror movie that actually is basedon a true story. The story line is also very interesting and rich inactual history that my daughter enjoyed and so did I. I really can'teven believe it was as good as it was. Unfortunately, the ONLY reason Igave it a 9 is the name is kinda dumb. My daughter was like A hauntingin Connecticut 2: ghosts of Georgia...ummm why isn't it just named ahaunting in Georgia or ghosts of Georgia...lol Please go see this andenjoy it.

Movie review: OK, we can get this out of the way and move on.Capitalizing on the name of the first one that had marginal successdoesn't save this movie from obscurity. This has nothing to do with NewEngland at all, just a blatant attempt at making money off the name.Shame on Hollywood. OK, movie, family moves into a haunted house(really haunted by the number of ghosts that are seen) and the usualplot ensues. The writers busted out the book of clichés that everyhaunted house movie contains. So, of course, the mother (AbigailSpencer) can see dead people and they are pretty much everywhere. Hedaughter also apparently has this ability as well, speaking with a Mr.Gordy throughout the movie. Problem is this movie plods along throughall the plot and throws in a few scares to keep the viewer happy (orbored, take your pick). Well, all of a sudden, the movie tries to getall serious on you, but by this point, it is far to late. I have to saythe acting was done well enough to make you actually care about thefamily, so at least they took the time to develop the characters whichis a plus. The daughter(Emily Alyn Lind) is adorable but mark my words,if you Streaming this from beginning to end, you WILL despise the name"Heidi", it is only yelled about 500 times in this movie. The F/X andcgi are horrendous to the point of laughable and a complete distractionto the story that is trying to be told. The based on a true story thing(hype) is so far fetched to reach connecting this movie to the Wyrickhaunting is also laughable. If you liked the first one, you may getsomething out of this, maybe. I found this to be more or less how to"piss off the audience" and the writers said "let's start with themovie title, and leave everyone wondering why the movie takes place inGeorgia exclusively". Fun fact, the movie was filmed in New Orleans, sothey couldn't even do justice to Georgia either. 3.7/10 IMDb 4.8 ?
